Alireza Karimi received the MSc and Ph.D degree in Mechanical Engineering/Bioengineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology and Kyushu University. His primary area of interest is continuum mechanics, soft tissue mechanics, finite element modeling, injury biomechanics, and biomathematics. He is the author of more than 100 peer reviewed articles in the international journals.

U. R. Acharya, PhD, DEng is a senior faculty member at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore. He is also (i) Adjunct Professor at University of Malaya, Malaysia, (ii) Adjunct Faculty at Singapore Institute of Technology- University of Glasgow, Singapore, and (iii) Associate faculty at SIM University, Singapore. He received his Ph.D. from National Institute of Technology Karnataka (Surathkal, India) and DEng from Chiba University (Japan). Professor Sima Ajami is a pioneer in the Health Information Management in Iran. She has been teaching more than 27 years since 1992 at the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in Iran. Several of her students serve as assistant and associate professors in Iran. She was awarded Postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto, in Canada, in 2011 for one year. As a visiting professor, during 2016-8, she did 3 research projects to draw patient and information flow map in the Emergency Department at the Humber River Hospital in Toronto, Canada. She has published more than 68 Journal articles, 2 books, 6 chapters of books. She had been founder & editor-in-Chief of Iranian Journal of Health Information Management (2003- Dec 2015). Her research interests include; Information Technology in Health, e-Health, electronic health records, Minimum Data Set for Diseases, Registry Systems, Process mapping, Lean Management, and Benchmarking in the health care system.

Dr. Shahindokht Bassiri-Jahromi is currently an assistant professor of medical mycology and research directorate of mycology Research at Pasteur Institute of Iran. She earned her Master and Ph.D. in Medical mycology at Tehran University, Iran and Pasteur Institute of Iran. Her interest is Cutaneous, subcutaneous, muccocutaneous fungal infections and systemic fungal infections. Dr. Shahindokht Bassiri-Jahromi has several refereed publications in international journals, patents and books. She is serving as an Editorial member and Reviewer of several journals.

He is a faculty member of the Departments of Philosophy and Geography at the State University of New York at Buffalo (Associate Professor). He is also a Research Scientist at the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. In addition he is a Research Scientist at the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (NCGIA). Dr. A. De Brevern was trained as a Cell Biologist and is a Structural Bioinformatician for around 20 years. His two main axes of researches are: (i) developing innovate methodologies useful for the scientific community and (ii) specific application to proteins implicated in diseases and pathologies. Concerning the first axis, he has provided near 20 tools, webservers and databases mainly dealing with the analyses and prediction of protein behaviours, e.g. superimposition of protein structures and prediction of protein flexibility. Concerning the second axis, he used mainly comparative modelling and molecular dynamics to analyse protein for Red Blood Cells and platelets.

Mario Cannataro is a Senior Researcher at the ICAR-CNR, Institute of the Italian National Research Council, and he is a lecturer in Computer Science at University of Calabria. He received his Laurea degree cum Laude in Computing Engineering from the University of Calabria and in 1986 he was awarded a fellowship for 2 years at CRAI. He is working in the area of parallel processing and computer networks since 1988. Jack CF Chong obtained his MD and MSc degrees from the Taipei Medical University (Taiwan). He is board certified (MOH, Taiwan) in both Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. He is an Lecturer of Emergency Medicine and Medical Informatics at the Medical School of Fu-Jen University, Taiwan. He has authored or co-authored about 100 publications.

Prof. Döllinger studied mathematics at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany) and received his diploma degree (M.Sc.) in 2000. In 2002 he received his PhD in Computer Science from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (supervisor Prof. Eysholdt). From 2003 – 2005 he was postdoctoral fellow at the University of California Los Angeles (supervisor Dr. Berry). Then he returned to Germany and was Assistant and Associate Professor (2005 – 2008) at the Division for Phoniatrics and Pediatric Audiology (University Erlangen-Nürnberg). Since 2008 he is Adjunct Professor at the Louisiana State University Baton Rouge. In 2010 he chaired and hosted the 9th AQL and in 2012 the 8th ICVPB meeting in Erlangen. Prof. Stefanos Gritzalis is the Rector of the University of the Aegean, Greece. He holds a BSc in Physics, an MSc in Electronic Automation, and a PhD in Information and Communications Security from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens, Greece. His published scientific work includes more than 35 books or book chapters. Moreover, his work has been published in 121 refereed journals and in the proceedings of 166 international refereed conferences and workshops. Dr Christopher E. Hann received his first class BSc (Hons) and PhD degrees in Mathematics at the University of Canterbury in 1996 and 2001. From 2007- mid 2010 he was a Sir Charles Hercus Health Research Fellow in Mechanical Engineering and is currently a Senior Lecturer and Rutherford Discovery Fellow (Tier 2) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Canterbury. Ofer Harel, Ph.D. is a professor in the Department of Statistics and a principal Investigator in the Center for Health, Intervention, and Prevention (CHIP) at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Harel received his doctorate in statistics in 2003 from the Pennsylvania State University; where he developed his methodological expertise in the areas of missing data techniques, diagnostic tests, longitudinal studies, bayesian methods, sampling techniques, mixture models, latent class analysis, and statistical consulting. Prof. Elzbieta Kaczmarek obtained her M.Sc. in Mathematics at the University of Poznan (UAM), Ph.D. in life sciences at the University of Medical Sciences in Poznan and is full professor in medical biology. She is the head of the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the University of Medical Sciences (Poznan, Poland). Her main research areas of interest include medical image processing and quantitative analysis, data bases of morphological images (tissue microarrays, digital histological slides), meta-analysis in medical research. Ronilda Lacson, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Radiology, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lacson’s major focus is in machine learning, natural language processing, ontologies, and IT tools for optimizing hand‐offs, such as communication of critical results and transitions of care. He has authored or co-authored about 43 publications with 391 citations, having 10 h-index.

Hongen Liao received the B.S. degree in mechanics and engineering sciences from Peking University, Beijing, China, in 1996, and the M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in precision machinery engineering from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 2000 and 2003, respectively. His research interests include 3-D medical image, image-guided surgery, medical robotics, computer-assisted surgery, and fusion of these techniques for minimally invasive precision diagnosis and therapy. Diego Liberati is the Research Director for Information, Control and Biomedical Engineering, and memeber of the Board, within the Institute for Electronics, Information and Communications Engineering of the Italian National Research Council at the Electronics and Information Department of the Milano Institute of Technology. Having taught signal processing, mathematical modeling, microelectronics, lab instrumentation and control theory in european Universities, he has also mentored dozens of pupils toward and beyond their doctorate. Dr.Tong-Yee Lee received the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from Washington State University, Pullman, in May 1995. He is currently a chair professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Cheng-Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, ROC. He leads the Computer Graphics Group, Visual System Laboratory, National Cheng-Kung University (http://graphics.csie.ncku.edu.tw/). His current research interests include computer graphics, nonphotorealistic rendering, medical visualization, virtual reality, and media resizing. His area of research is thermal imaging, biomedical engg; computational fluid dynamics & numerical heat transfer. 15 of his thermal imaging papers have been adopted as references in both Singapore Standard (SS 582: 2013) and ISO/TR 13154:2009 / IEC 80601-2-59: 2008.

Dr. Sotiris Pavlopoulos was born in Athens, Greece in 1965. His research interests include medical informatics, telemedicine, and medical image and signal processing, and bioinformatics. He is currently an Adjunct Researcher at the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems, the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Martin Rydmark, MD, Ph.D. is professsor of medical informatics and computer assisted education and associate professor of anatomy.
